Kindergarten Registration

The process to sign your child up to attend kindergarten in Southington Public Schools in the fall is underway. If you haven't booked the registration appointment, then contact the school your child will attend. Looking ahead, the schools have scheduled orientation in May; this includes a bus ride and parent meeting.
The  Open Choice and Magnet School programs and the parochial schools in town – Central Christian Academy and Southington Catholic – all have their own registration processes.

Inclusivity Resource Tags

As part of our DEI (Diversity, Equity & Inclusion) Initiatives, we are working on adding Inclusivity Tags to our list of Resources. The goal of adding these tags is to help parents/caregivers make more informed decisions and reduce barriers for those with accessibility needs.

Over time, tags will be added at the beginning of resource listings as easy visual indicators and to the categories list.

If you would like us to update your business listing or think your business should be added, email us your business information and the tags that apply to your business at southingtonearlychildhood@gmail.com.

The tags we plan to add are:

Developmental Disabilities Month

March is Developmental Disabilities Month. Developmental disabilities refer to a range of conditions that affect physical, learning, language, or behavior areas and typically start during the developmental period and last throughout a person’s lifetime.

Though we worry about the stigma of receiving specific diagnoses, it is often a crucial step to utilizing resources and assistance that improve one’s quality of life. A great resource we have here in Connecticut is Birth to Three. The Connecticut Birth to Three System supports families to enhance their young child’s development through everyday learning opportunities and connect with their community. Their mission is to strengthen the capacity of Connecticut’s families to meet the developmental and health-related needs of their infants and toddlers who have delays or disabilities. If you are concerned about your child’s development, behavior, or mental health, you can find resources here, including Birth to Three.
