Celebrating Summer!

School is out, and summer is here, but there still are lots of things happening in town.

You can see the ECCS at the Southington Farmers Market on the Town Green every other Friday from 3 to 6 pm starting June 23rd.

Outdoor Spaces

Veterans Memorial Park, Pool & Splash Pad at 776 Woodruff Street, Southington
This park offers a duck pond (no fishing), picnic grove, playscape, basketball and tennis courts, and football and baseball fields. The pool and splash pad is now open to Southington residents Monday-Friday, 11:30 AM - 8:30 PM, and Saturday & Sunday, 10:00 AM - 8:30 PM.

 

Recreation Park on Maxwell Noble Drive, Plantsville

This 37-acre facility has a children's playscape, swimming pool, picnic groves, and a gazebo/community pavilion. There are softball, baseball, soccer, and football fields and tennis, basketball, volleyball and bocce courts. Several competitive sports leagues meet here. The Southington Drive-in is located on the property and shows family-friendly movies on Saturday nights in the summer. Note that the Recreation Park swimming pool will be closed for the 2023 season for renovations to the pool and pool house.

 

Jaycee Park at 50 Union Street, Plantsville
This park has a picnic grove and a passive recreation area on 4.2 acres. New playground equipment was recently installed.

Safety Around Ice Cream Trucks

Do you live on a busy street and wonder why the ice cream truck doesn't stop anymore? Have you noticed that ice cream trucks have a stop sign, crossing arm, and other safety equipment similar to a school bus but aren't sure what to do as your car approaches them? Tristian's Law explains why.
