UPDATE: This meeting is being rescheduled from 3/17 to the following week. The exact date will be posted soon.
Join the ECCS for our next planning meeting. Note this is not an educational workshop and the focus will be on planning and current issues in the area of early childhood.
Please let Joanne know if you plan to attend at firstname.lastname@example.org so you can get the agenda and materials in advance.
We hope you will be able to join us and provide your input.
RESILIENCE is a one-hour documentary that delves into the science of Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) and the birth of a new movement to treat and prevent Toxic Stress. Now understood to be one of the leading causes of everything from heart disease and cancer to substance abuse and depression, extremely stressful experiences in childhood can alter brain development and have lifelong effects on health and behavior.
After the screening we will hold a discussion about the film and how to bring awareness to this issue and become a more trauma informed community.
Open to ALL: Parents, Teachers, Social workers, Public Health professionals, Community workers, or anyone interested in helping children develop resiliency to overcome adversity.
TRIGGER ALERT: We will ask participants to reflect on their own childhood and will be discussing traumatic conditions children may face:
• Divorce • Isolation or Neglect • Hostility • Alcohol/Drug Abuse • Mental Disorders • Physical Abuse •
This event is being co-sponsored by the Southington Public Library.
Thanks to the Petit Family Foundation for funding the ECCS’s purchase of Resilience.
If you want to hold a screening of Resilience for your organization, please contact the ECCS. We have a license to show the movie in Southington.
Registration via the Southington Library will open soon.
