The 2023 Youth and Family PRIDE Festival held by Southington PRIDE will include family fun activities and a pup strut with your dog.

First Congregational Church of Southington’s 300th Birthday Community Block Party
Celebrate the First Congregational Church of Southington’s 300th birthday! The entire Southington community is invited to a colossal block party. There will be music, fun activities for the kids, Valentine the Clown, and many other fun events. The block party begins at 1:00 p.m. at the First Congregational Church and the parking lot next door.

ECCS Community Cafe: The Impact of Screen Usage on Children and Families
Join the ECCS to discuss screen time: research about brain development, impacts on motor skills, emotional avoidance and recommendations.
The Early Childhood Collaborative of Southington is hosting a Community Cafe for parents, grandparents, foster parents, childcare providers and other caregivers.
Dinner will be provided. Childcare is available if requested during registration.
The goals are to:
– Learn about the association between screen time exposure in children and Autism Spectrum Disorder, lower Fine and Gross Motor development, emotional avoidance and addiction.
– Discuss how adult usage of screens impacts children in their care.
– Learn about recommendations of screen usage from the American Academy of Pediatricians and, for childcare centers, by age from National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC).
– Discussion of struggles, alternatives activities and sample materials you can take home.

This free event is funded by a grant from the Connecticut Office of Early Childhood as administered by the Connecticut Children’s Collective (CTCC).
State of Early Childhood in Southington Presentation
The Early Childhood Collaborative of Southington (ECCS) will host a presentation on “Early Childhood in Southington” on Wednesday morning, May 29, 2024 at the Southington Community Cultural Arts Center. Doors will open for networking at 7:30 am, breakfast will be served by 7:45 am. The program and discussion will run from 8 to 9:30 am.
The agenda will include a presentation by Joanne Kelleher, Executive Director of the ECCS and guest speakers. Joanne will give an overview of the state of early childhood in Southington including birth rates and other key data, issues faced by children, families and childcare providers, and the impact of State Legislation.
We hope you can join us and provide your insights into issues facing young children in town.
There is no charge to attend. Please indicate your food/drink choices so we can coordinate with the caterer.
Southington Library Comic Con
The Southington Public Library’s annual ComicCon is returning!
Join us on Saturday, June 8th from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., for a full day of superheroes, games, your favorite game shows, and much more. No registration is required to attend this free, all ages, drop-in event. To attend specific activities, there may be day of, in-person, sign ups. All ages are welcome.
