Social and emotional learning (SEL) helps students achieve more academically and make better decisions.

Since 2016, the Southington Public School (SPS) District has used the RULER Approach to Social and Emotional Learning, a school/district-wide approach, which was developed by the Yale Center for Emotional Intelligence (http://ei.yale.edu/). RULER is an acronym for the five skills of emotional intelligence (recognizing, understanding, labeling, expressing, and regulating).

This free online webinar is to extend the community reach of these EI methodologies to the families and caregivers of young children in town.

Register now to hear an overview about this system, how it applies to younger children, and the language and tools you can start using at home.

More information about RULER can be found on the District’s Emotional Intelligence webpage at https://www.southingtonschools.org/parents-students/emotional-intelligence.

Thank you to the Women & Girls Fund at the Main Street Community Foundation for funding this initiative.
