Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Policy

The Early Childhood Collaborative of Southington (ECCS) is committed to diversity, equity, and inclusion.  The ECCS celebrates the diversity of our board members, parent ambassadors, volunteers, staff, and community.  Our policy is to respect all such board members, parent ambassadors, volunteers, staff, and community members equally regardless of race, religion, gender, age, national origin, disability, sexual orientation, socio-economic status, education, or any characteristic protected by law.  We are an organization that embraces equity, and advocates for change against all forms of bias, internally and externally.

The ECCS respects the values that diverse life experiences bring to our board and leadership, and we strive to listen to their views and give them value.  As we strive to foster diversity, equity, and inclusion in the communities we serve, we are committed to taking the following actions:

  • See diversity, inclusion, and equity in connection with our vision and mission for the benefit of those we serve.
  • Recognize and ensure equity in our policies, programs, and services.
  • Be transparent about diversity in all of our interactions.
  • Establish and use effective, culturally competent internal and external communication strategies to promote diversity, equity, and inclusion.
  • Serve as advocates for all the members of the community.
  • Lead with respect and tolerance, and encourage all parent ambassadors, volunteers, and staff to express this in their work within our organization.
