The lack of fine motor skills is one of the biggest issues that the Southington elementary school principals are seeing with children entering Kindergarten. Fine motor skills is the coordination of small muscle movements—usually involving the synchronization of hands and fingers—with the eyes. These skills are utilized in Kindergarten through writing, cutting with scissors, artwork and other projects. When child don’t have the muscle strength or coordination to do these activities, they struggle and become frustrated.
Come hear why this is a growing issue and learn some skills and activities you can use in your home or classroom to help develop those skills before they enter Kindergarten.
Presented by the occupational and physical therapists from the Southington School District
Childcare will be provided for those who register online in advance.
