The Early Childhood Collaborative of Southington, through a grant from the Main Street Community Foundation Women and Girl’s Fund, is offering a National Association of Family Child Care (NAFCC) Accreditation Program to 5 Family Child Care providers from Southington. These providers are committed to offering high quality care in a home environment, with developmentally appropriate curriculum options and many other benefits. This program involves self study, application, and observation. Providers must meet 289 standards and 24 process requirements, in areas covering Safety, Health, The Environment, Relationships, Developmental Learning Activities, and Professional Business Practices. Providers also must meet strict continuing education requirements, background checks, and medical screenings.

The providers recently attended a seminar in Bristol presented by Applebaum Training Institute.
