Plainville Public Library

The Plainville Public Library helps taxpayers save money in a number of different ways. By using the library and taking advantage of the free resources and information, the residents of Plainville help their own pocketbooks. They don’t have to pay to borrow print books or to download e-books or audiobooks to their mobile devices. They don’t have to pay to borrow a DVD or music CD. From the comfort of their own home, they can go online and access the Library’s various databases for up-to-the-minute information. Yet for those in our community who don’t own a computer, the Library saves them money by providing free public computer access.

The Plainville Public Library hosts many events and workshops for children of all ages that can be registered for even if you are not a resident of Plainville.

SERC, State Education Resource Center

SERC, the State Education Resource Center, is a quasi-public agency established under statute to serve the CT State Board of Education in supporting educational equity and excellence. They do this by providing professional development and information dissemination in the latest research and best practices to educators, service providers, and families throughout the state, as well as job-embedded technical assistance and training within schools, programs, and districts. The agency maintains the Special Education Resource Center and SERC Library in addition to its broader responsibilities, including the support to programs and activities regarding early childhood education and school improvement.

In collaboration with the CSDE Bureau of Special Education, SERC continues to design, coordinate, and implement special education programming to support educators, leaders, youth, and families.

SERC, in collaboration with the CT Tech Act, has established an Adaptive Technology demonstration site and lending library.

SERC's library provides a collection of research, reference, and instructional materials and resources for children and adults related to education and social service needs. It continues to serve educators, families, college and university students, and other interested residents seeking resources and professional learning that supports educational equity and excellence for all K-12 students. Southington Public Library

The Southington Public Library has more than just books. You can also check out videos, CDs, games, backpacks of educational materials, shaped cake pans and more.
The Children's department has a puppet theater, computers with educational programs, train table, blocks and other toys.
Their children's programs are free to attend; though the more popular programs do require you to sign up beforehand and to put down a refundable deposit (which you get back when you attend the program! It just saves your spot!).

Tunxis CC Public Library

Tunxis Community College has a public library which includes a children's department. Using a library card from any town in CT you can check out books, movies or music in several languages. They even have ukuleles.
